DC Motor + Stepper FeatherWing Add-on For All Feather Boards

A PCA9685 PWM driver on I2C feeding four TB6612 half-bridge pairs: 4 DC motors or 2 steppers, each channel with 12-bit speed control, motor power 5-12 V DC on its own 2-pin terminal, and a base I2C address of 0x60 that five solder jumpers move - it talks to the Feather over SDA/SCL only, so no PWM pins are taken.

0x60I2CPCA9685 16-channel 12-bit PWM driver7-bit default with all five jumpers (A0-A4, on the bottom, fab file A0/A1/A2/A3/A4) open. Open jumpers add binary weights to 0x60, giving 0x60-0x7F and 32 stackable wings. The fixed all-call address is 0x70, which is exactly what bridging A4 (bit 4) produces - so A4 has to stay open unless you want this wing answering all-call.

Power

InputTwo supplies, deliberately separate: 3.3 V logic from the Feather through the header, and 5-12 V DC for the motors on the 2-pin terminal block (fab file MPOWER, silk "5-12VDC")
Input rangeMotor rail 5-12 V DC per Adafruit's guide and silkscreen; the TB6612 bridges themselves are rated 4.5-13.5 V DC

Adafruit is explicit that the motor supply does not power the Feather and that running motors from the Feather's LiPo is not advised - the two rails are separate on purpose. The motor input is reverse-polarity protected by a P-channel MOSFET (fab file Q1, AON7401) rather than a diode, so there is no deliberate drop in the motor rail. Adafruit does not publish a quiescent current for the wing and publishes no dimensions, so neither is recorded here.

Notes

Pin numbers 1-28 are the fab file's own pad numbers: 1-16 = JP2 (the 1x16 header, WAKE at pad 1 through RESET at pad 16), 17-28 = JP1 (the 1x12 header, BAT at pad 1 through SDA at pad 12). Only six of those 28 pads carry a wing circuit (GND, 3V, RST, SCL, SDA, plus BAT and USB which reach only the schematic's FeatherWing symbol); every other header pad is a bare through-hole that the Feather's pin passes through, which is why the pads are still listed - the land pattern has them, and a footprint that drops them will not seat. Because the wing only touches SDA/SCL, it does not matter which Feather is underneath. Motors 1 and 2 are IC1's two bridges and motors 3 and 4 are IC3's; each bridge is a TB6612 pair rated 1.2 A continuous and 4.5-13.5 V by Adafruit, with thermal shutdown and kickback diodes, and Adafruit's own note says to derate below 1.2 A. Every output is driven by the PCA9685, so speed resolution is 12-bit (about 0.02%). For steppers, the M1+M2 pair is one motor (coils 1 and 2) and M3+M4 the other; wire order matters for steppers and does not for DC motors. Motors come up disabled at power-on. Two cautions from the guide: the guide and the silkscreen say 5-12 V while the bridge is rated to 13.5 V, and the guide's ordering advice for unipolar steppers is to tie the centre taps to the motor-supply ground terminal - which is the same GND net the logic side uses, so a unipolar motor's centre tap lands on logic ground. Adafruit publishes no dimensions for this wing; the fab file's board outline measures 50.80 x 22.86 mm, the same outline as the 8-channel PWM wing (product 2928), whose published dimensions are 50.8 x 22.9 mm - which is why that measured figure is quoted with the fab file as its source rather than the product page. Adafruit's own note: the wing has no servo headers (they would not fit), so use the 8-channel PWM/Servo FeatherWing for servos.
