Buses
| Bus | Signals | Pins | Voltage | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| I2C ×1 | SDA, SCL | Grove I2C SDA, Grove I2C SCL | 3.3 V V | The Grove I2C connector breaks the host board's I2C bus out to SCL on pad 1 and SDA on pad 2 at 3.3 V. The on-board sensors (LSM6DSOXTR, APDS-9660, BME688) sit on the host's I2C bus too, but the datasheet publishes no addresses for them. |
| Analogue ×2 | AN0, AN6 | Grove A0 AN0, Grove A6 AN6 | 3.3 V reference, host board's ADC V | Two analogue Grove connectors, AN0 and AN6, each with its second pad marked not connected - one signal per connector. |
Power
| Input | supplied by the host MKR board; 3.7 V 18650 Li-ion cell in the on-board holder, charged through the host board |
|---|---|
| Input range | battery input 3.2 V min, 3.7 V typ, 4.3 V max (absolute maximum table) |
Outputs
| Rail | Rating | Note |
|---|---|---|
| +3.3V (Grove) | 3.3 V V | the +3.3V pad on each of the three Grove connectors, from the host board's 3.3 V rail |
Notes
The carrier has no MKR header pin map in its datasheet - the vendor refers to a separate 'MKR IoT Carrier Rev2 pinout' document - so pins[] carries only the connectors the datasheet numbers: three Grove connectors, the battery clip and the two relay terminals, offset into one run with the connector and the pad named in every description (the VS1053 convention). No I2C address is published for the LSM6DSOXTR, APDS-9660 or BME688 on this board, so addresses is empty rather than carrying a library default. The datasheet's absolute-maximum table gives the thermal row as -30/20/85 C, i.e. a minimum below the 20 C 'typical' - recorded as printed.

PART: Arduino MKR IoT Carrier Rev2, SKU ABX00073 - a passive carrier that takes any MKR-form-factor board and adds the sensors, display, relays and storage needed for an IoT project. It has no microcontroller of its own and does not run without an MKR board fitted. It requires Arduino_MKRIoTCarrier library version 2.0.0 or later. On-board silicon: U1 ST LSM6DSOXTR 6-axis IMU (gyroscope +-125/+-250/+-500/+-1000/+-2000 dps, accelerometer +-2/+-4/+-8/+-16 g, pedometer, free-fall/wake-up/6D-4D/click interrupts, programmable finite state machine, machine-learning core, embedded temperature sensor); U2 Broadcom APDS-9660 ambient light, RGB colour, proximity and gesture sensor with UV/IR blocking filter, on I2C; U4 Bosch BME688 pressure 300-1100 hPa, humidity 0-100 %, temperature -40 to +85 C, with an eNose gas sensor (IAQ +- 15 %, 10.8 s standard scan, 0.18 mAh per five scans); L0-L4 five APA1022020-2018 RGB LEDs; J6 an FH26W-45S-0.3SHW(60) connector for the 1.3 inch rounded 240 x 240 TFT; five capacitive qTouch buttons and a buzzer. PINOUT: the carrier exposes no MKR header pin map of its own - the host board plugs into it - so the numbered pads here are its own connectors, in the datasheet's section 4 order, each numbered by the connector's own pin number and offset into one run with the connector named in every description. Grove A0 (1-4): AN0, NC, +3.3V, GND. Grove A6 (5-8): AN6, NC, +3.3V, GND. Grove I2C (9-12): SCL, SDA, +3.3V, GND. Battery clip (13-14): GND, VBAT. Relay 1 screw terminal (15-17): NC, COM, NO. Relay 2 screw terminal (18-20): NC, COM, NO. RELAYS: two KEMET EE2-5NU-L, 5 V coil, non-latching, 2 A carry, rated 220 V DC / 250 V AC, contacts broken out as common, normally open and normally closed. Relay 1 is driven by digital pin 1 and relay 2 by digital pin 2 of the host MKR board. POWER: the carrier draws its power from the host MKR board and adds a holder for a 3.7 V 18650 Li-ion cell, charged through the MKR board's own charger; the vendor quotes up to 48 h of run time from a 3.7 V 2500 mAh cell. Absolute maximum on the battery input is 3.2 V min / 3.7 V typ / 4.3 V max, operating temperature -30 to +85 C with 20 C typical, relay current 2 A, and total power consumption 5000 mW maximum. LOGIC AND LIMITS: there is no level shifting on the carrier - every Grove connector's +3.3 V rail and every signal runs at the host MKR board's 3.3 V, so the carrier must be paired with a 3.3 V MKR board and nothing on it is 5 V tolerant. The Grove A0 and A6 connectors are analogue-only, with pad 2 marked not connected, so they cannot carry a second signal. TRAPS: (1) the board is passive - fitting it to a 5 V board is outside its rated use and no part of it is 5 V tolerant. (2) The vendor publishes the detailed MKR-side pinout as a separate document rather than in the datasheet, so no host-header pin map is recorded here. (3) No I2C address for any of the three sensors is published in the datasheet, so addresses is empty rather than carrying the library's defaults. (4) The 18650 cell is not included, and the relays switch mains-rated contacts - the screw terminals carry up to 250 V AC.
